You will be responsible for managing demurrage and voyage-related claims, ensuring accurate calculations, timely recoveries, and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Calculate, prepare, and negotiate demurrage and voyage-related claims.
- Review charter party terms and assess contractual entitlement.
- Work closely with operators, agents, vessel owners, and counterparties to gather supporting documents and resolve claim issues.
- Maintain accurate claims records and ensure all documentation is complete and properly filed.
- Prepare regular reports on claims status, ageing, recoveries, and outstanding disputes.
- Identify recurring issues and recommend improvements to reduce future claims exposure.
- Support legal and insurance teams by preparing documentation for escalated claims when required.
- Assist in improving claims processes, reporting, and data management.
- Build strong relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders to achieve timely claim resolution.
- Support other duties as assigned.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in demurrage, shipping claims, tanker operations, or oil and gas trading.
- Strong understanding of charter parties, laytime, demurrage, and shipping contracts.
- Knowledge of tanker shipping operations and voyage-related claims.
- Familiarity with maritime law or commercial shipping practices is an advantage.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Experience with shipping or claims management systems is beneficial.
