Angle Recruitment has partnered with a respected not for profit organisation, funded by the shipping industry, to find a Technical Advisor. When oil or chemicals are spilt at sea, this is the team governments, shipowners, insurers and salvors call for impartial technical advice.
The role is based in Singapore or the UK, part of a global group of specialists. When an incident happens, big or small, you'll be on a plane and at the heart of the action, on site for up to three weeks at a time.
- Lead cases and advise on the best response to oil and chemical spills
- Attend incidents on site across Asia Pacific, Africa and beyond
- Work alongside governments, owners, insurers and salvors to keep the response on track
- Write reports, deliver presentations and training, and represent the organisation with industry and government
You'll bring a Master's degree or PhD in a natural science, most likely chemistry, marine biology, oceanography or environmental science. Spill response, port chemistry or marine environmental experience may help. Another language besides English would be useful, but isn't essential.
Above all, you'll be able to explain complex science to people who have none.
Between incidents the pace is steadier, so strong writing and calm judgement matter as much as a willingness to travel at short notice.
In return, you'll get a structured induction, a mentor from the senior team and genuinely meaningful work with global reach.
